With growth comes change, and with the growth of NUARI’s SSC (Security Situation Center), a new home is in order.

What is the SSC?

In the world of cybersecurity, NUARI’s SSC most closely resembles a security operations center (SOC). What sets the NUARI SSC apart is that it shares and receives information from federal and state law enforcement partners/agencies for increased protection against threat actors. This mutual transparency enables the SSC to take a more proactive approach to cyber threats on the networks they serve.

The SSC’s threat-hunting crews have access to cutting-edge research and data through Norwich University, and this partnership enhances concept development and brings the Center’s performance to a higher level. The NUARI SSC provides its analysts with real-world experience and prepares them for their future information security field.

Where are they going?

Most recently, operating out of Norwich’s Mack Hall, the SSC’s realized that their accommodations were just too small for the growth they were experiencing.

A new location was found, and work to move the SSC into Norwich’s Flint Hall is advancing rapidly with a target date of early October set to complete the move.

According to Karen Bates, the Deputy Director of the SSC, the larger space will be able to accommodate an increase in staff, which will allow for “research into developing more tools for the SSC.”
