About Norwich University Applied Research Institutes:

Norwich University Applied Research Institutes (NUARI) was federally chartered under legislation sponsored by Sen. Patrick Leahy in 2002 and is funded in part through the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense. NUARI was established as a national center to address cyber incident management challenges through research, training programs, and technology development and has been a global leader for more than a decade in developing cyber war gaming, distributed learning technology, distributed simulation technology, critical infrastructure exercises, and cyber security.


Job Description:

Norwich University Applied Research Institutes (NUARI) is seeking a full-time QA Engineer. The QA technician role plays an important part in our company’s product development process. Our ideal candidate will have considerable experience with web-based enterprise software and will be responsible for conducting tests before product launches to ensure software runs smoothly and meets client needs while being cost-effective. Additionally, the candidate will need to communicate with both the software development team and internal and external users of NUARI products. The candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to test functionality from multiple perspectives. We'd like to meet you if you have an engineering background and enjoy providing end-to-end solutions to software quality problems.

Job Duties

 

  • Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback via reports and phone calls.
  • Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases.
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities.
  • Design, develop, and execute automation scripts using open-source tools
  • Identify, record, document thoroughly, and track bugs.
  • Contribute to the creation and updating of user documentation.
  • Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved.
  • Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet client needs.
  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g., developers and product managers) to identify system requirements.
  • Monitor debugging process results.
  • Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts. Stay up to date with new testing tools and test strategies.

Requirements:

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven work experience in software development or software quality assurance
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
  • Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools
  • Experience with HTML Document DOM structure and Selenium coding
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
  • Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus.
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject
