Norwich University Applied Research Institutes (NUARI) was federally chartered under legislation sponsored by Sen. Patrick Leahy in 2002 and is funded in part through the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense. NUARI was established as a national center to address cyber incident management challenges through research, training programs, and technology development and has been a global leader for more than a decade in developing cyber war gaming, distributed learning technology, distributed simulation technology, critical infrastructure exercises, and cyber security.

Job Description:

Norwich University Applied Research Institutes (NUARI) is seeking a full-time Grant/Proposal Writer. The Grant Writer will prospect and write grant proposals to support the organization’s operations, products, services, and program development. It is expected that this role will grow and diversify grant funding support for the organization to strengthen the expansion of services and programs.

Start Date: As soon as possible

Job Duties

  • Prospecting for appropriate grants, RFIs, RFPs, and contracts
  • Write proposals and work with the Contracts Manager to submit them on time
  • Understand the organization and its capabilities and how the capabilities may be applied in different instances
  • Quickly learn about past proposals, successes, and shortcomings
  • Develop plans and metrics that help drive success in the role
  • Requirements:

Required Skills & Experience

  • Excellent proofreading, editing, grammar, and a keen eye for details
  • Ability to work with little direction, both with the team and independently.
  • Problem-solving, analytical skills, and proactive communication style
  • Dedication to the NUARI mission
  • Ability to be agile, flexible, and work well under time pressure
  • Excellent writing skills and technical writing experience are a plus
  • Experience writing proposals for Federal, State, and Local government RFIs/RFPs/Grants/BAAs
  • Experience/knowledge with/of cybersecurity, incident response, workforce development, homeland security issues, military, machine learning/AI, and nonprofits.
