Pacific Northwest Exercise Series: Telecommunication and State Cyber Response Exercise
The participants executed a first in a series of Cyber Security Exercises on 19 March 2019 to identify gaps in response planning and execution across government, academia, military capabilities and private critical infrastructure providers (in this case Telecommunications).
Participants included the University of Washington Center Information Assurance and Cybersecurity (CIAC), Washington State CISO, Washington State Emergency Management, Washington National Guard, Department of Homeland Security, a large Telecommunication provider, 5 Industry partners, the 75th Innovation Command (USAR) and Norwich University Applied Research Institutes (NUARI).
The distributive desktop exercise was conducted using the NUARI DECIDE platform around an embedded microphone exploit scenario that impacted State critical capabilities to disaster response. The exercise resulted in identifying over 7 critical issues.
